Lowcountry area information |
||||
| The Lowcountry consists of Beaufort County and Jasper County which include Hilton Head Island, Bluffton, Okatie, Beaufort, Lady's Island, St. Helena Island, Ridgeland and Hardeeville. It’s beautiful from top to bottom, and every point in between. And chances are, you are already more familiar with it than you realize.
The Beaufort historic district was featured in “The Big Chill.” You can find similar old historic homes in Bluffton, Hardeeville, and Ridgeland. Private golf club communities can be found all over the Lowcountry. “The Legend of Bagger Vance” was shot in Bluffton. “The Herigage” PGA golf tournament is played every year on Hilton Head. “Daughters of the Dust” was filmed on the sandy beaches of St. Helena Island. The same sand dunes and sea oats can be found on Hilton Head Island, Fripp Island, and Daufuskie Island. Tidal creeks and marsh land are spectacularly beautiful. Remember “Forrest Gump” and “The Prince of Tides?” Both movies were filmed right here in the South Carolina Lowcountry. Remember the jungle scene in “Forrest Gump?” That “jungle” is actually Hunting Island State Park. Similar wooded home sites can be found throughout the Lowcountry. Beach? Golf course? Tidal marsh? Wooded? We know! With so many spectacular settings to choose from, it's almost an impossible choice to make! |
